Welcome To Winship Elementary!

On behalf of the entire Winship Wildcat Family,

we would like to sincerely wish our

4th and 5th grade students the very best of luck as they take the

    STAAR Math (3rd/4th/5th) and

    Math/Reading (3rd/4th/5th)  Monday, May 8, Tuesday, May 9,

and Wednesday, May 10 (5th Grade Science)

Students across the state will be taking this

    important cumulative assessment to determine

their readiness for the next grade level.

Please help your student in his/her success by:

    • Ensuring they have a good breakfast
    • Making sure they get plenty of rest the night before
    • Trying to minimize stresses in the morning
    • Making sure if your child wears glasses, they have them!
    • Assuring your child he/she is SMART and WILL do they best!!

**Reminder:  These three testing days are CLOSED CAMPUS, meaning

no parents or visitors will be allowed back into the cafeteria or testing areas.

    Winship is a CHAMPS campus!!

To achieve our goal of helping EVERY student be the best they can be-both academically and socially, Winship (and all SISD elementary campuses) has adopted the CHAMPS model. The acryomyn stands for: Communication, Help, Activity, Movement, Participation and Success and it helps both students and teachers clearly define and know expectations throughout our campus. We look forward to sharing more about CHAMPS with you during parent conferences.

Winship Attendance Goal - 98% attendance

For the safety of our students and staff during arrival and dismissal, please refrain from talking and texting while in the drop off and dismissal car line. We appreciate your support!

Reminder: the West Staff Parking lot is not to be used as a drop off or pick-up zone since we do not provide staff members to ensure student safety. We appreciate your cooperation with this.

Winship's Spring Bookfair has now come to an end.

This year's theme was "CAMP READ-A-LOT!" and

students "window shopped" all day last Friday.

    Students made purchases each morning

from 7:30 - 8:00 with parent supervision, or

during the school day with teacher permission.

LATE SHOPPING DAY was Tuesday, April 18th

from 5:30 - 8:00 due to the 1st Grade Program.

Many people came to check out all the wonderful reading opportunities! A special thank you to Mrs. Flor Salgado and all the super volunteers who made this event extra special for our community and students!!
