While the tax office is closed as set forth above, payment can be made in many different ways, as follows:
For your convenience there is a payment drop box located in the front of the building; any payments in the box when the tax office re-opens in January will be given a posting date for the month of December and a current year record of payment can be printed from our website if needed;
Payment can also be made via telephone or online by credit card or e-check; there is a 2.5% fee charged for credit card and a $4.00 charge per transaction for e-check not collected through your taxes; In addition payment can be made though the U.S. Postal service; any payment bearing a post mark by the date of December 31st will be accepted as a December payment and a current year record of payment can be printed from our website if needed. If payment envelope does not bear post office postmark date, the check date will be used.
Please feel free to make partial payments, however, after the delinquency date penalty and interest will accrue. Tax payments cannot be accepted at HCAD Harris County Appraisal District has no authority to receive tax payments for any jurisdiction. All tax payments must be mailed or delivered to the tax collector. Tax Lien Transfer payments must be mailed to our physical P.O. Box 90458 address.
