HOUSTON - Feb. 22, 2013 - The 62nd Annual Spring Tri-Club Livestock Show and Fair will be held April 11-13 at the Nagy Pavilion, 24037 Hardy Rd. The event will feature exhibits by Spring ISD students involved in FFA and Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) at Dekaney, Spring, Westfield and Wunsche high schools, and Spring 4-H.
Exhibits will include animals, food, horticulture, arts, crafts and photography. Animal shows scheduled throughout the three-day event include rabbit, goat, lamb and swine shows on April 11 and poultry and cattle shows on April 12.
Special events scheduled for April 12 are a Torch Cutting Contest, Teach the Teacher, Old Timers Showmanship and Alumni Showmanship. The popular Pee Wee Showmanship competition will be held at 8 a.m. April 13. Proceeds from the special events plus the sale of scholarship cakes will be used to fund scholarships for graduating seniors.
During the ceremony on April 13, the Grein family of FGH Insulation will be introduced as the Spring Tri-Club’s 2013 Honorees. Since 1985, members of the Grein family have been buyers at the live auction and three generations will be recognized at this year’s event for their support.
The three-day event is free and open to the public. Community members and business owners are invited to attend and support the students’ year-long work by purchasing their projects. Individuals who would prefer to be part of a buyers’ group may contribute to the Spring ISD Stampede. Contributions to the Stampede are pooled to allow the buyers group to bid on an animal at the auction. In addition, tent, animal and award sponsorships and vendor booths are available.
