My name is Taylor Gilley and I am the ESL/LPAC Coordinator and New Teacher Induction Specialist here at Thompson. I make sure our English Language Learners are getting the language support they need, and I also make sure our new teachers get the pedagogical and emotional support they need to be successful. I also help support our USTAR Residency student teachers from Texas A&M.
I'm beginning my 7th year in education. I was a teacher in 4th and 5th grade at Thomson from 2012 to 2016. Before that, I worked as a Special Education Paraprofessional in Conroe ISD while I studied to get my teaching certificate through Region 4's Alternative Certification Program. I graduated from Texas A&M in 2005 with a degree in Marketing and spent my first few years in the "real world" as a Human Resources Executive Team Leader at Target. After four years with that company and with support from my family, I decided to leave the company and pursue my dream in education. Now, I will be receiving my Master's Degree in Teacher Leadership with a concentration in English as a Second Language from Lamar University in December. I enjoy spending time with my family and my three dogs, freshwater fishing, sewing/crafting/painting and reading. I am blessed and honored to call Thompson elementary my home!
