  • Dear Parents and Scholars,

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year at Thompson Elementary School! I hope you enjoyed your time with family and friends. We are excited about the return of our scholars and we’ve worked hard to make sure this upcoming year is exciting and rewarding. Our theme this year will be “Journeying from Good to GREAT.” We want our parents, scholars, faculty and staff to work collaboratively to improve the academic, social, and emotional well-being of each member of our school community.

Here at Thompson, we have established core beliefs and a common language that will support our vision that states; “Thompson Elementary is a school of choice for high quality academics with innovative and specialized programs that meet the needs of all students in a positive learning environment.”

Our first day of school is Wednesday, August 14, 2019. This year our school hours have changed   and doors will open daily beginning at 7:05am. Instruction begins at 7:35am and ends at 2:55pm.   Please ensure that your child does not arrive before 7:05am. Breakfast will be served from 7:05am   to 7:35am in the classroom and will continue to be free for all scholars this school year. It is very   important to complete a Family Income Survey again this year. Completing this survey ensures our   scholars continue to receive the additional academic and social/emotional support from qualified   professionals.

As a reminder all bus riders will be dropped off and picked up at the front of the building with ample   staff present to assist. Walkers and car riders will enter and exit through the car rider line on the   side of the building daily. We have a strong a car rider system in place that will monitor the safety   of each of our scholars. Your particular attention and adherence to the procedures is appreciated.

Please plan to attend our annual Pack is Back on Monday, August 12th from 5:30pm to 7:00pm.   Scholars will receive their class/teacher assignments and parents will be able to pick up pre-ordered  supplies, purchase spirit shirts, and meet your child’s teacher. Additionally, pertinent information   regarding the school year will also be available.

Our student dress code will remain the same from last school year. Scholars will wear specific   colored polo’s by grade level with khaki or blue jean bottoms. Please see the standardized dress   code in the student handbook or online for more detailed information. Scholars may only carry a   backpack of choice without wheels during the school day. Also, scholars will be issued a photo  identification badge free of charge. Should a badge become damaged or lost, scholars/parents will   be expected to purchase a replacement badge in the front office for $5.00. Scholars will be expected   to wear these daily and must bevisible from the front of their bodies. All IDs will remain on campus   with the homeroom teacher and reissued each morning.

On behalf of Thompson Elementary School faculty and staff, welcome to a new school year! We are excited about the positive plans for GREATNESS we have in store this year!

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the campus at 281-891-8480.
