  • URGENT: 2020-2021 COURSE SELECTIONS DUE MARCH 31ST!

    Greetings Razorback Students and Parents,

It is that time of year when current 6th and 7th graders need to select courses for next school year. Due to the unexpected school closures, this process has been interrupted. We have extended the deadline to get course requests submitted. Any student who has not submitted their online course has until March 31 at 12:00 a.m. midnight (which will be the top of the morning April 1).  However, if you have a 6th grader in the Performing Arts community, they will not need to complete course selections because their electives remain the same.

Parents are to review the paper form previously given to students, then go online to complete the electronic form. The electronic form must be submitted in order for the course requests to be official. Parents are required to be present as the form is completed.

However, if parents and students are having trouble accessing the online form, we ask that you email your grade level counselor with your course requests according to your paper form.

Parents will receive an email confirming that we received the course request. Parents have until March 31 to use the link in the confirmation email if changes need to be made to the course request. As a reminder, students cannot change their community.

Here are the links to the on-line course requests:

  • IMPORTANT: School Is Closed, But Your Counselor Is Still Working For You

    Greetings Razorback Students and Parents,

This is a very strange time for all of us. Over the next week or two, the district will be sending out emails and messages through the district website with updates and instructions for you on how we will proceed. They are working to make everything as easy and stress-free as possible for you. Remember that you are Phoenixes - resilient, creative, resourceful, and motivated to reach your goals!  We will all get through this and have an unbelievable story to tell about the 2019-2020 school year.

In the meantime, all counselors will be working from home and checking requests from you to speak to us. You may make your request to speak to your grade level counselor using the following link: shorturl.at/qtuQX

If you have a question or if you just need to talk about something, please fill out the google form from that link. Your grade level counselor will email you to set up an appointment time to participate in a Google Hangout video conference. Then you will be sent an invitation for the meeting. Please click on this if you need instructions for Google Hangout.

    We've got this! Be safe.

    Respectfully,

    Tami Green Branch

HOUSTON CHRONICLE: Mouse traps, CDs and gears: How middle school kids fashion tiny cars out of everyday objects!

Christine Pharris’ students made the calculations carefully.

The Roberson Middle School seventh-graders knew they wanted their car, fashioned from a mouse trap and two CDs, to travel 25 meters — the length of a middle school gym. They knew the circumference of the CDs that functioned as the car’s wheels, and they knew how many turns...Read more below!

  • Spring ISD Schools Provide Examples of Empowered Learning Model During Classroom Visits

HOUSTON – Feb. 12, 2020 – Students at Beneke Elementary School were fully engaged, on-task and politely indifferent to the grownups who visited their classrooms on Feb. 6 as part of a tour to see the district’s Empowered Learning Model in action. “The students are really so engaged in their work, that they can tune out their environment,” said Beneke Principal LaTracy Harris, “and that’s why we really know that we have something special.” Almost 50 educators, including principals from other Spring ISD campuses and representatives from two other school districts, got to see first-hand what the district’s Empowered Learning Model looks like in first and third-grade math classes at Beneke, Ponderosa and Reynolds elementary schools and in grades six through eight at Roberson Middle School. With the Empowered Learning Model, students engage in...CLICK ABOVE TO READ MORE!
