I cannot believe we have already turned the calendar page to November. While it seems time stood still on occasion, it is obviously moving at a faster pace then we sometimes realize.

There has been so much taking place recently in the world around us. With all of the conversation around politics, health and weather events, it is important that we make sure we not only take care of those around us but that we also take care of ourselves. Whether it is a few minutes each evening to relax and meditate before bed, a walk in the afternoon or a quiet morning coffee to start the day, remember to take a few minutes to help keep some balance in your day.

For our students this may mean stepping away from the computer screen going outside, getting some fresh air and a little exercise. School must go on, and while some students are thriving in this new academic arena, others are challenged to learn to navigate the way of the virtual learning environment. We know we must adapt to the changing needs of student learning and are working hard to keep up and try to stay a step ahead. With this, we want to offer parents assistance in how they can help their students in this new environment.

Please join us for an AVID Town Hall meeting on Tuesday November 17 (Grades 9/10 at 6:00pm) (Grades 11/12 at 6:30pm). See meeting information and link below. We hope to offer support and information on our AVID program and how you can assist your students using AVID strategies at home. We hope to see you there "virtually".

Thank you again for your support, patience and cooperation as we navigate this learning environment. We are here to support our students and parents. Please feel free to contact us with any questions, concerns or suggestions you may have.

  • Laptops available through LSC for dual credit students

Dual credit students are eligible for LSC's free laptop program.  We encourage all eligible students to apply:

Students need to be enrolled in 6 hours and have a 2.0 GPA.  Students need to have a photo ID to be able to pick up laptop.

Here is link to apply:  https://lonestar.service-now.com/sp?id=sc_cat_item&sys_id=3e78ba6113dd5c1045f97e776144b04c&pslnkid=LSCS_S202007271102288044141236%3F

New students enrolled in 6 hours that do not have a GPA can still apply for a laptop, but it is not an automatic approval.
