Good morning parents. This is Diaka Melendez, Principal of Spring High School. In an effort to keep you informed, I wanted to reach out this morning and provide you an update on the rumored threat and related social media chatter that started yesterday. While the rumored threat was found to be a complete hoax, strong disciplinary action has been taken against the student who made the social media post that caused the concern and alarm seen across our school community yesterday.
At this time, I’d also like to you make you aware that a school in Ohio with our school’s same name — Spring High — has also been managing a rumored threat over social media. This issue has nothing to do with Spring High School here in Spring Texas.
In light of current events, please take the opportunity to talk with your child about their social media activity and the serious consequences they could face if a social media post -- even rumors or jokes -- is viewed as a threat.
We appreciate your help in letting all of our students know that no threats will be tolerated in our school community. Your child’s safety is our top priority.
Diaka Melendez, Principal of Spring High School.
All students parking on campus are required to have a Spring High School parking permit. Students with parking permits are also required to park in their assigned parking spot ONLY. Students in violation of these campus parking expectations will be subject to campus discipline and/or towing.
Students who need to purchase a parking permit may do so before and after school in Room 196. Parking permits are $35. A valid student driver’s license, proof of vehicle registration and proof of insurance are required.
