Intra-district Transfers
Description
Students who reside in the district MAY be eligible for a transfer to a campus where they are not zoned for one of the following reasons:
Requirements
Student is in good standing with regards to discipline and attendance.
Receiving campus has building and program space availability. [See list of schools with space availability]
All applicants must complete a Transfer Application Form.
Application Process for Intra-district Transfers
- Check list of schools that are approved to receive transfer students.
- Complete the Online Transfer Application Form.
- Once the sending/zoned principal has had an opportunity to review the application, they will sign it and then forward it to the receiving school.
- Once the receiving principal has had an opportunity to review the application, they will sign it and then forward it to the school leadership office for final approval.
- You will receive notification if your request has been approved, denied or waitlisted within 10 school days from when you submitted it. Notification will be sent via email or phone call.
- After approval, your transfer application and your student’s record will be forwarded to the school you requested.
Child of an Employee Transfer: District employee’s children requesting a transfer to attend a campus to which they are not zoned.
Grandfather Clause Transfer: This transfer type is for students in areas affected by a district boundary change. In a given school year when a boundary change is being implemented, some grade levels may be eligible to remain at their current school if the school has capacity. Currently, there are no zoned areas and/or grade levels eligible for the grandfather clause transfer type.
Grandfather Clause Transfer: Available for rising 5th and 8th grade students. Current 4th and 7th grade students affected by any boundary changes who are entering grades five and eight are eligible to remain at their current school if the school has capacity.
Child Care Provider Transfer: Students who live in the district, but who attend a childcare provider before or after school that provides transportation to a campus for which they are not a zoned resident.
Bilingual Transfer: Bilingual transfers are available for students in grades PK-5 to a campus to which they are not zoned in order to participate in a bilingual (Spanish-English) bilingual program. All bilingual transfers are approved through the Multilingual Department.
Special Education Transfer: Special Education transfers are arranged and approved through the Special Education Department for students with a disability requiring a specialized program not offered at their zone campus.
CTE Transfer: High school student requesting a transfer to a campus to which they are not zoned in order to participate in a career pathway not offered at their zoned high school campus.
Grandparent Caregiver Transfer: Students who do not live in the district, but whose grandparents live in the district and are responsible for picking them up from school may qualify for a grandparent caregiver transfer.
Program Not Available at Zoned Campus: Applies to Multilingual transfers, unique pathways offered at Dekaney, Spring and Westfield High Schools, and other specialty programs available within the district.
District of Choice: Students who do not live in the district, but make the choice to attend Spring ISD.
