Mrs. Keysa Humber, Art

Greetings! I’m Keysa Humber, the Visual Arts Instructor. This school year will be my 27th year in education, and I’m ecstatic to bring my experience and passion to our students! I’m a Houston native and live in the area with my family; Phil, my husband, and Jake, our dog who is the baby of our family. Our eldest son, KeAndre, is studying Studio Art and Graphic Design at Sam Houston State University, and our youngest son is studying Kinesiology and Education at McMurry University in Abilene.

I began my teaching career in Early Childhood Education in the private sector where I remained for ten years before transitioning to public schools. I’m an alumna of Houston Baptist University where I received my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. I’m super excited that I’m starting my third year in the Executive Leadership Doctoral Program!

As a Visual Arts Instructor, my teaching style is a fusion of demonstrator and facilitator in which I incorporate blended techniques of instructional strategies. This year students will be introduced to the I5 strategy of implementation to the creative process.

Mrs. Mizz Jones, Music

Welcome back, Gators! My name is Mizz Jones, and I’m the music teacher at Anderson. This is my 5th year teaching music here and my 13th year overall. I’m really excited to begin this school year.

I have been singing even before I could talk. I absolutely love music, and I hope to instill a love for music in you, too! When I was in elementary school, I was in Texas Girls’ Choir and I got to travel throughout the state singing different types of music. In high school, our choir trained with voice professors at Texas Christian University (TCU), and every year, we received a 1 rating at UIL competition. Our high school choir also had the opportunity to record on gospel artist Kirk Franklin’s Nu Nation album. We also sang the national anthem with Kirk Franklin at the Dallas Mavericks’ basketball game. We recorded on several other artists’ gospel albums  as well. My senior year of high school, I auditioned for Destiny’s Child, Beyonce’s girl group, but I wasn’t selected to join the group.

I attended college at Texas Southern University and received bachelor's and master’s degrees in communication with an emphasis on radio, television, and film. As an adult, I traveled the country singing with gospel group Greg O’Quin and Joyful Noyze. I continue to sing with my church music ministry, record in the studio, write music, and perform as a professional singer.

My family includes my two daughters and me: Maci (almost 5) and Milani (almost 2).

Mrs. Laura Mathus, PE

Laura Mathus here! I'm so excited to be starting my 5th year at Anderson. I love the Anderson community and am proud to be a Gator!!

A little history... I grew up here in Spring with my loving parents and my little sister (aka my best girl) and went to Spring ISD schools from Kinder to 12th! I moved to Austin and attended the University of Texas (hook 'em!!!) where I studied government. After receiving my Bachelor's, I moved to Europe where I lived in Rome, Italy (and met my husband) followed by Barcelona, Spain. Later, I moved to Mendoza, Argentina before making my way home again. Those were amazing and carefree years that left me with many precious memories and the gift of language. I speak both Italian and Spanish (fluently but with lots of errors). Upon returning to Spring, I got my alternative teaching certification through Lone Star and was hired to teach at Hirsch Elementary (Hirschy Hawks!!) where I worked for 9 years in the classroom before coming to Anderson to teach PE. I feel I've landed right where I'm supposed to be and couldn't be happier!

I live here in Spring with my husband, Martin, and our children, Liam and Stella. As cheesy as it may sound, they are my sun, my moon, and my stars. They bring me all of the happiness my heart can hold. I love spending time with my family, traveling, teaching, laughing with friends, listening to music, looking at art, taking pictures, and the list goes on and on... I'm infinitely grateful to God for the gift of life.

It's going to be another fantastic year at Anderson - I just know it!!! Thank you to the Anderson community for welcoming me and continuing to make me feel at home. Go Gators!!!!!
