Mrs. Katie Lopez, Resource/Co-Teacher

Hello Gator families! My name is Katie Lopez. This is my 4th year at Anderson as a Special Education Inclusion teacher. I have been a part of the Gator family for 8 years. I have 3 children who are Gators! In my free time, I love spending time with my family and friends, grilling, swimming and just enjoying life. I enjoy reading, traveling, going to the beach, shopping, watching Netflix and crafting.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology as well as my teaching certification here in the state of Texas. I am currently working on my Masters of Education in Special Education at the University of Texas and am on track to graduate by Summer 2020. I have been working closely with children for over 20 years between working in daycare, our children's church ministry, being highly involved in our community and my children's school PTO.

I love what every day has to bring working with our Gators and knowing what an impact we all make every single day! Our students don’t just learn from us, we learn from them as well. I look forward to another year with our Gators to bring the best out of them and show them there is a true leader in them all. Go Gators!

Hi, my name is Amanda Sullivan. I am an inclusion paraprofessional here at Anderson Elementary. This is my second year here. I have two beautiful children - one boy and one girl. When I am not working, I am running around just like any normal parent does; taking my son to baseball, my daughter to tumbling or even coaching. Yes, that's right - coaching. During the summer, I am a swim coach. I have been coaching for many years and absolutely love it. It’s going to be a great year here at Anderson.

Hello! This year marks my 13th year in Special Education, but my first year at Anderson! I finished my undergraduate work at McNeese University. I have taught Life Skills, Resource, Inclusion, Response to Intervention for SPED students and Structured Learning Classrooms. I have loved each part of my journey. I am so excited to teach Anderson’s Structured Inclusive Learning Community (working with our children with Autism)! I have been married for 10 years to date to my loving husband, Patrick.  I have a seven-year-old boy, Patrick Jr. who keeps me busy! I consider it an honor to work for children with disabilities. I love to hang out with family & friends, volunteering and watching the Houston Texans football games! I am looking forward to working with your child. It will be a great year!

Mrs. Betsy Ruiz, SILC Paraprofessional

Hello Gators!! My name is Betsy Ruiz and I am proud to say that this will be my third year in the Gator family. Last school year I was part of the SILC team where I had many wonderful experiences and the opportunity to guide amazing gators. This new school year, I am looking forward to lots of fun and learning with my dear gators. I’ve been working closely with children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities for almost 16 years, mostly in the social work/service coordinator field. Previously, I worked at The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD as well as other mental health institutions focusing on meeting the needs of each individual. I also worked as a substitute teacher for Aldine ISD and Spring ISD. I obtained my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from York College in New York City and am currently working towards my special education teaching certification.

I am married and have three wonderful children and two lovely dogs. My daughter Angelica is starting seventh grade and my little twin gators, Daniel and David, are starting 2nd grade here at Anderson. In our free time, we enjoy going camping and spending time with family and friends.  I also love shopping and our family movie nights.

I am very excited to start this new school year and continue to be part of the Gator family and the Special Education team. I look forward to another year of growth with our Gators and helping them discover the leader in them!
