Superintendent's Message

  • Welcome to the 2019-20 school year in Spring ISD. We are very excited about everything that’s on the horizon this year.

First and foremost, we’re launching new tools to help us better serve our families. These improvements include an online registration process for both new and returning students. That means no more mountains of paperwork to fill out and return. Instead, families can take care of this process at their convenience, using a smartphone or computer to get it done. We’ve included more information about the change in this booklet and on our website at www.springisd.org/register.

Also this school year, we’re relaunching our mobile app with updates that will create a more personalized and streamlined experience for our families. Our mobile app will now feature all the information parents need to stay on top of grades, calendars, homework, attendance and even overdue library books. Stay tuned for more details.

As superintendent, my biggest priority is always the safety of our students and staff. That’s precisely why we’re moving to the Standard Response Protocol, which is designed by leaders in school safety and used by thousands of schools across the nation. This protocol provides staff, students and parents with a common language so that in times of crisis and emergency we’re able to work together. We’ve included more details in this booklet and on our website at www.springisd.org/safety.

Lastly, I want to mention Lift 6 — a very important initiative this year to improve the success of students at the district’s six comprehensive middle schools. We know that the middle-school years are an important bridge between elementary and high school, and we want every child to have a smooth journey through these critical years. You’ll hear more about Lift 6 throughout the school year.

Again, I’m excited about the upcoming school year and hope you are as well.
