Two Spring ISD Teachers Receive Top Honors at Annual Employee Recognition Banquet

More than 600 people turned out Thursday night for Spring ISD’s annual Employee Recognition Banquet that culminated in the naming of Eboni Jenerette of Twin Creeks Middle School as the secondary teacher of the year and Courtney Hamlyn-Rice of Thompson Elementary School as the elementary teacher of the year.

The top honors came with a special surprise, courtesy of Planet Ford, which gave a new vehicle to Jenerette — either a Ford Fusion or Escape — and a fully paid cruise for Hamlyn-Rice. The two teachers were announced as the winners in the district’s Teacher of the Year program that included 10 finalists.

Spring ISD Teacher of the Year Program

  • Spring ISD’s Teacher of the Year program recognizes outstanding educators for their passion and commitment to excellence in education. Each campus is asked to select a campus winner, who is invited to submit written materials to be considered as a finalist for the district’s teacher of the year. Test scores, classroom and a selection committee help narrow down the pool.

Among the campus winners, 10 will be selected as finalists for the district’s Teacher of the Year.

Those finalists will be unveiled at the district’s annual Employee Recognition Banquet, from which the district’s top teachers – one elementary and one secondary – will be honored.  Those two teachers then will go on to represent Spring ISD in the regional competition.
