Mrs. Katherine Fisher

Katherine Fisher has served in the Spring Independent School District for over five years in many capacities. Over the course of her career, Katherine has served in many leadership roles at all levels in a plethora of turnaround schools. These leadership roles include serving as a Literacy Coach, Teacher Specialist, Teacher Development Specialist, Assistant Principal, Response to Intervention Coordinator, District Summer School Coordinator, and Associate Principal. Katherine holds a Master Teacher Reading Certification, where she has used this credential to increase student achievement in the area of literacy. Katherine also has a Bachelor in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing.

Currently, she is an Executive Director of Strategic Coaching in the Workforce Development Department. In this role, Katherine’s primary role is to oversee literacy and math coaches at the secondary level and the Professional Development team. She is also a member of the district’s Theory of Action committee.

Katherine is truly excited about the new TeachUp Spring Learning Center, where professional development can be executed to various employees across the district. She feels this state-of-the-art facility will offer an opportunity for practice and coaching in a realistic environment.

Mrs. Diana Kimberly

Mrs. Kimberly has 30 years of experience in education.  She began her career as an elementary school teacher and moved in to administration at both the elementary and secondary levels.  She served as an assistant principal at Montgomery Intermediate in Montgomery ISD for 5 years and then moved to Montgomery High School as an assistant principal.  

Mrs. Kimberly moved in to the principal role at Cannan Elementary in Willis ISD and then joined Spring ISD in 2014 as the principal of Gloria Marshall Elementary and then promoted to the Principal of Spring Early College Academy in 2017.  She is currently serving in her new role as Executive Director of Workforce Development.

Mrs. Kimberly received her bachelor’s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University and her Masters from Prairie View A&M University.  She has also completed her superintendent certification from Lamar University. 

Mrs. Kimberly has been a part of Leadership North Houston, LeadSpring and a recipient of a grant to attend the Harvard Graduate School of Education from Raise Your Hand Texas.  She continues to be part of the Raise Your Hand alumni where she attends yearly legislative sessions and continues to speak out for public education.

Ms. Melissa Alvarez

Melissa Alvarez is a Professional Development Facilitator within the Workforce Development Department and brings over 20 years of experience. In her role, she takes the initiative to design and create professional development aligned to district goals and initiatives. Melissa also trains personnel, including teachers with the ultimate goal in mind of enhancing the level of student mastery and achievement.

Melissa earned her Bachelor of Arts in Bilingual Education from the University of Houston Downtown and her Master of Education in Educational Administration from Sam Houston State University. Her goal is to return to school to obtain her PhD in Educational Administration in pursuit of enhancing the systems of support and teacher readiness programs in higher educational organizations. She wants to positively impact the future of educators and administrators.

Ms. Monea Beene

Monea Beene is a Professional Development Facilitator for Spring ISD. Monea is an innovative, forward thinker with a relentless drive to achieve the vision of the organization. She brings experience working with minority scholars (ELs in particular) from Texas public schools. Prior to coming to Spring ISD, Monea served as a classroom teacher of Els. She also worked to charter focus groups and supports systems to meet the needs of teachers of Els. Furthermore, Monea assisted in curriculum writing for the subjects of reading, writing and middle school intervention courses in an effort to support increased student achievement.

Monea approaches problems and challenges with a creative, optimistic, but yet dissective lens. Her inspiration and drive comes from the growth and developed of other local educational leaders and the scholars who are directly impacted. Monea believes in leading and learning in a unified manner with integrity and dedication. Monea’s educational background consists of two graduate degrees both from Sam Houston State University in Instructional Supervision and Educational Administration. She also received a Bachelors of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies in Education from Stephen F. Austin University. As a professional committed to lifelong learning, she is working on achieving her doctoral degree and reads immensely to continuously grow in her craft.

Mrs. Laura Buck

Laura Buck is a Professional Development Facilitator in the Workforce Development Department. She has a passion for learning and loves to create learning opportunities for others. Through every professional development session she writes and/or presents, her goal is to push participants to think deeply and interact with the content. She spent most of her career in education as a High School Chemistry teacher before coming to Spring ISD to fill the role of Development Specialist and now Professional Development Facilitator. Laura’s background includes a B.S. in Nutritional Sciences from Texas A&M University and a M.S. in Human Resource Development from the University of Houston.

Mr. Julio Valladares

Julio Valladares is a Professional Development Content Creator for the Spring ISD. Julio earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Computer Information Systems from Texas A&M International University. Julio brings 16 years of educational experience as a Bilingual Education team lead and teacher, Instructional Technology Specialist, District Trainer and Video Content Creator. As a certified educator in the State of Texas, Julio has participated in various Region 4 trainings and successfully implemented numerous teaching methods in the classroom and at the district level related to Balance Literacy, Writer's Workshops, CHAMPS Classroom Management and Flipped Classroom teaching methods.

Julio's in depth experience and leadership to create, solve and teach through video content is a valuable niche, and new age skill that addresses the need to standardize teaching practices while meeting the district's strategic plan. Julio has the ability to extract precise exemplar teaching video content from the classroom and edit to support face to face and online district led trainings.  Furthermore, Julio has pioneered and designed a blueprint for planning and creating video content for education. Julio is currently engaged in engineering a digital video library that will support various Spring ISD departments for years to come. Julio is proud to serve and be a part of the Spring ISD community.
