Ms. Ann Williams

My name is Ann Williams. I have the honor and pleasure of working with the most extraordinary students and kindest colleagues in Spring ISD.

I began my career in education here at Dueitt Middle school five years ago as a CTE (Career Technical Education) teacher.  In the last two years, I have served as the campus Student Support Specialist providing services to students identified as "At-Risk," and supporting administrative operations with MTSS for RtI and PBIS strategies.

Throughout various communities, I am known as an advocate for quality public education in Texas. I have dedicated over 12 years participating in school board governance, a representative for parents of children with special needs, and worked as a long-term substitute for many many years.  I am a member of a  family of educators; my sons come to call it "the family business." Before I arrived at Dueitt Middle School,  I worked for (Fortune 10) corporations in technology for over 30 years, as well as with non-profits and entrepreneurial environments. I often shared with my CTE students, if there is anyone who can guide in exploring careers and technology, Ms. Williams has experiences in various industries.

My educational philosophy has been that everyone has the ability and potential to learn." I have supported students of all ages with varying educational aspirations and have seen them excel despite their obstacles. I am excited about this school year and the possibilities beyond the current world pandemic. Demonstrating ...#ThisIsHowWeDuiett

Dr. Mayen S. Nelson

My name is Dr. Mayen S. Nelson, and I am absolutely thrilled about joining the team at Dueitt Middle School as your Campus Testing Coordinator for the 2020-2021 school year.  I began my teaching career in 1999 in Houston ISD where I taught both middle school and high school math. During that tenure, I spent six years teaching Algebra, live on television on their cable access network station and one year as a Secondary Mathematics Curriculum Specialist for the Alternative and Charter School Region in the district. I left HISD in 2010 to begin teaching post-secondary mathematics at San Jacinto College while concurrently working at Spring Branch ISD in the grants department. In 2015, I went back to my love of mathematics and became a Secondary Mathematics Curriculum Writer and Teacher Coach/Mentor in Fort Bend ISD. I then went back to Houston ISD in 2017 and worked these last three years as a Secondary Mathematics Curriculum Specialist and Mathematics Intervention Coach.

I am a very proud alumna of The University of Texas at Austin. I have had the distinct pleasure of also serving as the past president of the university’s Black Ex-Students of Texas Houston Chapter for several years. I have a B.S. in Child Development and Family Relationships, a M.S. in Early Childhood Education and doctorate in Educational Administra-tion. I am the lucky mother of a four-year old toddler named Hunter, who doctors gave a less than 15% chance of survival. Against all odds, baby Hunter arrived perfectly healthy and has been the love of my life since. I’m definitely one of the luckiest mothers in the world. In my spare time I love to travel, read books, and do volunteer work with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo as well as the Houston Grand Opera Guild.

I am extremely excited about starting a new chapter in my career in education with Spring ISD and look forward to working with everyone. Working with students, teachers, parents and administrators has been a very rewarding experience. As one continues on this educational journey, I look forward to being an asset and integral part of your staff.
