This is my fourteenth year in Spring ISD. I have taught English Language Arts and Social Studies and served as the Gifted and Talented Coordinator and Parent Engagement Liaison. Currently, I serve as the Instructional Specialist.  I am a resident of the district and the proud parent of three children, all of whom are graduates of Spring ISD. I have served the district as a community and parent representative during the years my children attended Spring ISD. I have a bachelor’s degree in Psychology with General Education, Special Education, and English as a Second Language certifications and a master's degree in Educational Leadership and Administration with Principal Certification.

My goal is to foster student growth and achievement through modeling, coaching, and providing feedback to teachers in effective implementation of instructional strategies and best practices.

Mr. Cory Sweat

Digital Literacy Coach

I am grateful to be a part of Major Elementary and the Spring ISD community! I began my educational career after leaving the military numerous years ago. I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Tyler and my graduate degree from Texas Southern University. My educational experience includes teaching fourth, fifth, and sixth grades. I also had the opportunity of supporting teachers as a Development Specialist, Digital Learning Coach, and Digital Learning Coach for Literacy. I enjoy time traveling, outdoor activities, and attending various sporting events. My goal is to ensure the success of all scholars and teachers at Major Elementary. It is my belief that the global leaners of tomorrow, begin Today!

 

I am looking forward to building and extending relationships with parents, students, and the community in Spring as we take the journey to excellence!!!

I am the test coordinator at Major Elementary. This year is my ninth year in education. I've taught 4th through 7th grade, as a math teacher, with the last seven years being in California. My passion is not only to support and educate students, but become apart of their village and empower them to be agents of change in their lives, and in the world. I'm looking forward to the work and growth we will do at Major!

Mrs. Erica Clement

Student Support Specialist

Erica Clement is the campus Student Support Specialist at Helen Major Elementary. She graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor's degree in 2013. She began her educational career at Helen Major Elementary in Spring ISD in August 2013. Her educational experience includes being a classroom teacher from 2013 to 2020 and took the position of Student Support Specialist in the 2020-2021 school year.  As the campus Student Support Specialist, she works closely with students and teachers to ensure all student growth. Some of her professional responsibilities include Response to Intervention, intervention support, academic screeners, data tracking, and leadership support. It is her passion to work in education supporting staff and students with the ultimate goal of student academic and personal growth. She believes in life long learning and the importance of investing in our children of today because they will be the difference of our future.

Ms. Chaquetta Wade

Instructional Coach / 3-5 Math Interventionist

Hi! I am Ms. Wade and I am happy to be the Math Interventionist for grades 3-5. I have over 9 years of education experience in the classroom teaching math for various grades K-6. I am originally from a small town in Louisiana, but I consider Houston my home. I graduated from the University of Houston with a B.S. in Elementary Education with an emphasis in math education. Go Coogs! Then I obtained a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. My hobbies include spending time with her family, movies, crafting, and a huge Country music fan. My goal is to give students the strategies and resources they need to support their math learning through simple and effective instructional strategies. I am very passionate about math and eager to begin this year’s journey supporting students, colleagues, and families!

Mrs. Rachel Riles

Instructional Math Coach

Mrs. Riles is an author and educator with over 23 years of experience.  With degrees from both the University of Houston-Downtown and University of Phoenix, she brings knowledge and experience in curriculum, instruction, and educational leadership to serve the staff and families of Major Elementary as the Math Coach for grades 3-5.

She is a native Houstonian who enjoys singing, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Theresa Johnson-Manos

Math and Science Instructional Specialist

I am elated to introduce myself. My name is Theresa Johnson-Manos. I was born and raised in Houston,Tx. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of  Phoenix. I've earned my teaching certification from ACT Houston as an EC-4 generalist and ESL teacher.  I have been working in Spring ISD for 14 years supporting students in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade and I am very excited to serve my community!  My main areas of focus are coaching and instructional leadership. I am excited about working with teachers throughout the school year. Together we make a difference in student achievement! I look forward to ensuring the success of our Major Elementary students!

Mrs. Jennifer Peoples

Instructional Coach /K-2 Math Interventionist

My name is Mrs. Jennifer Peoples and I will serve as your K-2 math Interventionist this year. This is my fifteenth year as a certified educator. I am a graduate of Grambling State University, where I received degrees in both Early Childhood Education and Child Development.
