ELEMENTARY MUSIC

  • In the Spring ISD Elementary Music program, students learn through a TEKS-aligned curriculum that focuses on lifelong concepts and sequential skill development in music literacy, listening and singing, moving to music, and the playing of instruments.

    • Targeted music instruction teaches the foundations of reading and writing music through the use of singing songs and games, the playing of instruments, and movement to music.
    • Students develop essential music knowledge by connecting to its history and music from various cultures and countries. They become familiar with a variety of music and relate their work to topics and events throughout history.
    • Students build music appreciation by dialoguing about their musical experiences, interpretation, and thoughts about various works of music.
    • Music content is sequenced to provide a unique and enriching learning experience at each grade level that is designed to help students advance in their study of music at the middle school level and develop an informed appreciation for music and the arts.
