  • Dear Parents and Scholars:

Welcome to the 2020-21 school year at Thompson Elementary School! I hope you and family remained safe and sound during the summer and even now. We are excited to reconnect with our scholars VIRTUALLY and soon IN PERSON! We’ve worked hard to make sure this upcoming year is still exciting and rewarding yet safe for all scholars and staff. Our theme this year will be “Resilient Champions Headed Towards Greatness!” We want our parents, scholars, faculty and staff to know there is nothing that can tear down the Timberwolf Nation Spirit! We are going to continue supporting our scholars and meeting their needs whether virtually or in person.

Our core beliefs and a common language will continue to support our vision that states; “Thompson Elementary is a school of choice for high quality academics with innovative and specialized programs that meet the needs of all students in a positive learning environment.”

Our first day of school is Monday, August 17, 2020 ONLINE. This year our school hours have changed and instruction will now begin at 8:35am and end at 3:40pm. The times shifted to ensure that the health and safety of our scholars and staff remain our top priority. Please view our campus Town Hall presentation located under the Parents and Student tab on our website. Here, you will find detailed information regarding the safety measures we are taking as a district in response to this pandemic. It is very important also for all parents to complete their online registration update for all returning students. Your updated information is necessary so we can remain in contact with you regarding campus updates and information pertinent to your scholar.

Please plan to attend our annual Drive Thru Pack is Back on Thursday, August 13th from 5pm to 7pm for our PreK- 2nd grade scholars and on August 14th from 5p- 7p for our 3rd- 5th & SPED scholars. Scholars will receive their class/teacher assignments, binders with resources that will assist them with online learning, and basic school supplies to allow for a successful start of school online!

Our student dress code will remain the same and can be found on the campus web page once we return for in person learning and can be found on our campus webpage. Scholars will wear specific colored polo’s by grade level with khaki or blue jean bottoms once they return to campus. Please see the standardized dress code in the student handbook or online for more detailed information. Remember, it is also important that your scholar is “Camera Ready” for online learning as well. That means no pajamas and not lying in bed while participating in synchronous learning online.

On behalf of Thompson Elementary School faculty and staff, WELCOME BACK! We are excited about the positive plans for GREATNESS we have in store this year!

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the campus at 281-891-8480.

    Sincerely,

    Mrs. DeMonica C. Amerson
