  • Dear Wells Middle School Families:

On behalf of our team, I would like to welcome you to the 2018-2019 school year at Edwin M. Wells Middle School. I hope your summer has gone well, and you are excited for the beginning of the new school year. I anticipate an exciting year as we collectively strive to foster a culture of learning. I feel extremely fortunate to be working with such an exceptional group of scholars, families, staff members and professional educators.

Whether you will be dropping your child off at Wells for their 1st day, as a 6th Grade Scholar, or you are a veteran parent of a 8th Grade Senior, the start of a new school year is always a time filled with excitement, nervousness, and joy. Our focus as an academic organization is to provide each child with the academic skillset, along with the life tools to forge a future filled with opportunities, success, and prosperity.

Wells Middle School is a school where scholars will be supported, and encouraged to grow academically, socially and emotionally in efforts to cultivate a life beyond what they can imagine. I am fortunate to be a part of this organization as we are moving to becoming a results-focused organization, and I speak on behalf of the entire staff when I say we are excited to have each of you as part of our school community. We are excited to collaborate with all of our families in efforts to ensure our children can achieve their highest potential.

We recognize that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and school. We know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities. Working together, we will have a wonderful year filled with learning, lifelong relationships and the joys of success and accomplishment. I look forward to meeting each of you, and to working with you and your children throughout the year.

    Yours in Service,

    Dr. Robert L. Long, III
