A Spring ISD School

    Dr. Roosevelt Wilson:

Self-introductions are always the toughest for me. However, I realize how important it is that the community knows the individual who is leading Pearl M. Hirsch Elementary School. Even more, I am always excited to share important aspects of my life’s story. Adult life for me began after entering the Marine Corps at age 18. While serving in the Corps, I held positions that included Communications Chief, administrator and instructor at the Marine Corps Leadership Academy, Drill Instructor, Drill Instructor School instructor, military advisor to the Saudi Marine Force, Base Education Officer, and Personal Services Head. My family and I still have fond memories of living and traveling abroad. Included in those travels where I was accompanied and at times unaccompanied by my family are Australia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Russia, Japan, Haiti, Germany, Saudi Arabia, England, Philippines, and Korea to name a few.  I retired after almost 23 years of serving my beloved country and became a first-grade teacher in Sumter, South Carolina. My family and I relocated 10 years ago to Spring, where I began teaching at McNabb Elementary. This will be my ninth year as an administrator and 5 years as principal at Hirsch Elementary School.  My family and I are both excited and relieved to have competed my doctorate in education leadership at Sam Houston State University this summer. My educational accomplishments also include a Bachelor’s degree in psychology, Master’s degree in elementary education, and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies degree in educational leadership. Family is very important to me. At the center of my life are my wife of 29 years, Octavia, and our four wonderful children, Candice (29) and 3 sons, Edward (22), Kailem (21), and Gabriel (18).    My staff and I are extremely excited about what this school year holds for our students. We believe that with the support of family and teachers, our students will rise to great heights of achievement this school year. God Bless!

    Assistant Principal

    C'ne Dawkins:

Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year!  This school year will bring many exciting changes for Hirsch Elementary. I am delighted to be a part of the great change. This is my third year as your Assistant Principal; prior to that, I had served the Hirsch family as the school counselor. I was honored to proudly hold this position for three years. During this time I formed invaluable relationships with the students and staff that aid me in my role as an administrator today. This year I eagerly look forward to serving you, your child, and this community. I began my education career 20 years ago after obtaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Science at the University of Houston Downtown. In 2002, I received a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling at Prairie View A & M University. Treasured moments for me are spent with my husband, Jon, and daughters Lorie and Elyssa. I also take great pleasure in working with the youth of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church in the Fifth Ward community. As assistant principal my goal is to empower students to think, problem-solve, and become productive innovative citizens of our global community.
