Mrs. Terri Swisher

Hi, my name is Terri Swisher, and I am the school counselor here at Link Elementary. I support and advocate for students, staff members, and parents. I work with students individually, in small groups, and in classes to assist with healthy social/emotional and academic development.

Individual counseling at the school level seeks to remove any impediments that may be getting in the way of a student being the best learner that they can be. It is conducted in a confidential setting and is meant to meet any immediate student needs or concerns. Individual counseling at school is short-term in nature; should a student need on-going therapy, a referral can be made to an outside mental health provider.

What Does a Counselor Do?

  • Works with individual students and parents
  • Works with staff to assist students
  • Provides support through small group counseling, individual counseling, and classroom guidance
  • Provides crisis intervention
  • Works with stakeholders on topics such as respecting differences, problem solving, friendship, self-esteem, self-control, coping strategies, social skills, changing families, teamwork, conflict, and character education

How Do Students Get To See The Counselor?

  • Student request
  • Parent request
  • Teacher or Administrator request

*Please contact me at any time if you have questions or concerns. You can reach me at 281-891-8394 or tswisher@springisd.org .

Hello Link Family! I am excited to be entering my 8th year in education, and my 3rd year as a member of the Link Elementary family. I have been fortunate to teach in East Baton Rouge Parish, Yellowstone Academy, and Spring ISD. Each new change taught me more about educating “the whole child” and showing genuine concern and care for all of the students that I encounter. I have worked in Early Childhood, Middle School, and Elementary, and I have been the Gifted and Talented Campus lead and Fifth Grade team lead here at Link. It brings me great pride and pleasure to enter into my newest role as the ELL/LEP Coordinator serving our English Language Learners.  I have an undergraduate degree from Alcorn State University, a Master’s in Public Administration from Texas Southern University, and a second Master’s in Educational Administration and Leadership with a Principal certification from Concordia University in Austin. I look forward to this year and the years to come here at Link.
