Mrs. Wanda Hill

Hello! My name is Mrs. Wanda Halley Hill. I grew up in the Spring/Klein area on a farm that my great-grandfather, Adam Klein (a German immigrant farmer) had settled.  I attended Trinity Lutheran Elementary School and then Klein High School. I graduated from Texas State University in 1983. I have taught several different grades: Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 8th, and the Learning Lab program at Wunsche High School (where my dad graduated from in 1949). But, my passion is teaching Pre-K! When their little faces light up, my heart melts! I feel as though I have a room filled with 24 of my grandkids. I LOVE them! This will be my 30th year of teaching, but 10 of those years was teaching in a private school setting.

I have been married to Ray Hill for 33 years. We have 3 kids; Amanda, Ross, and Rex. Amanda attended University of Louisiana on a full softball scholarship, as a pitcher, and then went on to University of St. Augustine, in Florida, to get her DPT (Doctor of Physical Therapy) degree. Ross was a great high school athlete but did not choose to play sports in college. Rex, the baby, attended Texas Christian University on a full baseball scholarship as a pitcher and was drafted by the Kansas City Royals.

My daughter married her college sweetheart, Eli (he is an Occupational Therapist) and they currently live in Lafayette, Louisiana. They have 2 sons. My middle son is a manager of a restaurant in Tomball, and Rex just recently got engaged to his college sweetheart.

I am very blessed to have 3 wonderful children, 2 grandchildren, and a classroom full of beautiful Pre-K children. I love them all! I have lots of energy and tons of great activities planned for this year! I welcome any questions, or comments. I can’t wait to meet everyone!

Ms. Elizabeth Varela, Bilingual Teacher

Hola! My name is Elizabeth Varela, but everybody calls me Sissi. I am from Colombia and have been living in the USA for the last 19 years with my two daughters. I started teaching bilingual Pre-K 13 years ago and I love it. I have a Bachelor's degree in Communications-Journalism and got a certification as a teacher when I moved to Houston. I have a Master of Arts from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Teaching little ones is my passion and teaching in two languages makes it so much fun. My goal as a teacher is to introduce them to the school world in a safe environment where they feel happy, loved and challenged; to enhance their lives, help them discover the love of learning and the importance of growing up to be great human beings. Reading, going to the theater and watching movies are my favorite hobbies.

Mrs. Shayla Mercer, Pre-K Aide

Hello! I am Shayla Mercer. I moved to Spring in 2012. I was able to stay home with our boys while I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from Western Governors University. I have a wonderful husband of 10 years and together we have 2 boys - Mason (9) and Tyson (2). Mason is going to be a 3rd grader this year and has been at Anderson since Kindergarten. I started out as a parent at Anderson and then completed my student teaching here. Last year I was a substitute and I am looking forward to working in the pre-K classroom this year.
