Mrs. Katie Lopez, Resource/Co-Teacher

Hello Gator families! My name is Katie Lopez This is my 3rd year at Anderson as a Special Education Inclusion teacher and my 7th as a Gator! I have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology as well as my teaching certification here in the state of Texas. I worked as a corporate trainer/manager for 11 years before following my passion working with children. I have been working closely with children for 20 years between working in daycare, our children's church ministry and being highly involved in the community and my children's school PTO.

My husband, John and I have been married for almost 17 years and we have three beautiful children: Ethan (11), Makayla (8) and Jaxsen (4). Ethan is a former gator who will be attending his first year at Dueitt as an eagle. Makayla will be in 3rd grade and Jaxsen will be starting pre-K this year at Anderson. We bleed green and yellow!

In my free time, I love spending time with my family and friends, grilling, swimming and just enjoying life. I enjoy reading, traveling (my mission is to visit all of the national parks in the US as a family), shopping, watching Netflix and crafting.

I love what every day has to bring working with our gators, and knowing what an impact we all make every single day! Our students don’t just learn from us, we learn from them as well. I look forward to another year with our Gators to bring the best out of them and show them there is a true leader in them all. Go Gators!

During the summer, I am a swim coach. I have been coaching for many years and absolutely love it. It’s going to be a great year here at Anderson.

Hello Gators!! My name is Betsy Ruiz and I am proud to say that this will be my second year in the Gator family. Last school year I was part of the Structured Learning team where I had many wonderful experiences and the opportunity to guide amazing gators. This new school year, I am looking forward to lots of learning in my new paraprofessional position with SILC. I’ve been working closely with children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities for almost 15 years, mostly in the social work/service coordinator field. Previously, I worked at The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD as well as other mental health institutions focusing on meeting the needs of each individual. I also worked as a substitute teacher for Aldine ISD and Spring ISD. I obtained my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from York College in New York City and am currently working towards my special education teaching certification.

I am married and have three wonderful children and a lovely dog. My daughter Angelica is starting sixth grade and my little twin gators, Daniel and David, are starting first grade here at Anderson.

I am very excited to start this new school year and continue to be part of the Gator family and the Special Education team. I look forward to another year of growth with our Gators and to helping them discover the leader in them!

Hello! My name is Shannon Lankford. This will be my fourth year at Anderson but I have been a proud parent of four little Gators, three of which have moved on to middle and high school. I am from Mannford, Oklahoma and came to Houston in 2002. I have my Associate's degree from Lone Star College and am currently working towards my Bachelor's so I can one day be a teacher. I also have my license as a Registered Behavior Technician and have worked and volunteered at Sire Therapeutic Center as a horse handler and side walker for kids and adults with disabilities for the past 5 years. I also coach our Gator Girls' 4th and 5th grade basketball team and look forward to taking the team on again this year.

I have four kids. One is at Carl Albert High School, two are at Dueitt Middle School and my youngest baby is at Anderson. I started first as a parent and can say from a parent and an employee perspective, there is no place better than Anderson Elementary. It really is a home that I am proud of. I have a bunch of animals (too many to mention) but my loves are my chickens and my horse, Scout. If you don't find me at the school or at home with my kids, I can almost guarantee I am with my horse. I look forward to meeting you and being a positive part of your kids' lives this coming 2018-2019 school year. Go Gators!
