Mrs. Allison Culbertson, Literacy Coach

Hello! I am so excited to be the literacy coach this year!  I can’t wait to work with teachers to help build our literacy program. I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Education with an emphasis on Early Childhood Education from Southwest Texas State University (now known as Texas State). I love reading and writing! I have taught 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th grade for 17 years in Spring ISD. I started at Anderson, went to Burchett for 3 years, and came home to Anderson. Once a gator, always a gator. My 2 sons both attended Anderson and are now attending Twin Creeks where my husband teaches and coaches. I have 2 dogs that I adore and I love spending time with my family. I hope to bring literacy alive at Anderson.

Mrs. Shawna Smith, ELL Coordinator

Hello Gators! My name is Shawna Smith and I’m proud to say that I’ve been a teacher/instructional leader here at Anderson for 21 years. Spring ISD has always been close to my heart being a product of Winship, Twin Creeks, and Spring High School. In addition, I volunteered and substitute taught at many of our schools. Most importantly, I trusted the education being taught at Anderson so much that I brought both of my kids to school here. Like me, they will always be Gators.

After attending Spring schools, I went to Sam Houston to pursue a career in Education. I never really considered anything else as children have always been an important part of my life. Anderson gave me my first shot at teaching and the staff here have been my extended family ever since. I’ve gone back to school to obtain a Master’s in Educational Leadership, so if you don’t see me on campus it’s because I’m pursuing my own learning. For the last several years I’ve been the ELL Campus Coordinator. This role has allowed me the opportunity to guide many of our students and families on their path to learning English. Should you have any questions about our English as a Second Language or Bilingual programs, you can always schedule a time to meet with me. In addition, many of you may know me in one of my newer roles as Parent & Community Engagement Liaison. Feel free to reach out to me at anytime to find out about volunteer opportunities here on campus, including our Watch DOGS program. I’d love to see all of you up here being able to be a part of your child’s education and learning.
