Did you know that former President Obama can do a traditional Alaskan dance?

He sure can! Barack Obama watched a traditional Yup’ik dance group perform four dances at a Middle School in Dillingham, Alaska on Sept. 2, 2015. Obama first watched the performance, then got up and danced with the group. Take a look at the action at the link below.

How was he able to learn it so quickly? Well, the dance he participates in is just a series of repeated movements. Watch the video again and take note of the different movements. Then, see if you can do them too. Consider matching the same movements with a song from your own culture.

Write a review of one of the sports or games you tried. Rename it to something more modern. Then create a game piece, game board or equipment that can be used with the game.

Don’t forget to place this completed activity/product into the pocket of your white Journey into Reading envelope.
