Step One: Read one of the books for your grade level
Pick one of these books to learn more about the summit’s continent. These books are available for check out at Spring ISD school libraries. When you finish the book, see Step Two below.
The Noisy Paintbox

Step Two: Pick one activity and complete it
Choose one of the nine activities below and follow the directions to complete it. Once complete, place your work in your envelope and check off reading in your passport.
Timeline for Character
Take a walk in a character’s shoes by documenting the journey he/she faces in the story. This can be documented on a timeline. Create a life graph for all major events in a character/person’s life from either a fictional or nonfiction book that has characters.
This assignment MUST include illustrations, labels, and quotes. Be creative. Feel free to use technology websites like www.tiki-toki.com or www.capzles.com. If you use these sites, please print out the results for your passport.
Take out a piece of paper and create your timeline. Place your finished timeline in your passport envelope.
Create a newspaper that is all about your 7 Summit book! You will need to include popular sections just like a real newspaper: sports, world news, local news, entertainment, comics, advice column, etc. Make sure that the contents of your newspaper reflect all that you have learned from your 7 Summits book.
Take out a piece of paper and create your newspaper. Place your finished newspaper in your passport envelope.
Create a Board Game
Choose a 7 Summits book that involves a character climbing a mountain. Create a board game based on a particular character. The game must include a title, a board, game pieces, illustrations, and an instruction booklet to go with it. You may create a blueprint for your game or build your board game. If you choose to build your game. Someone must take a picture of you holding up all your board game pieces. You will then put the photos in your passport envelope.
Take out a piece of paper and create your blueprint. Place your finished blueprint or board game photo in your passport envelope.
Create a Comic Strip
Draw a comic strip about a 7 Summits book. Tell the story through art. Your comic strip must have a minimum of 10 frames. If you’d like to do this using technology, visit www.toondoo.com. It’s a free cartoon making website; you simply have to create an account with an appropriate parent/guardian’s permission. Then print it out.
Take out a piece of paper and create your comic strip. Place your finished comic strip in your passport envelope.
Prepositional Reading Timeline
Create a list of where and how you will read your 7 Summit book each day. Cross them off your list after you read. Examples: under a tree—in a car—to a pet—by a window—with a flashlight—on the couch—at the pool—to a parent—with a friend—on the grass—in the sunshine—on my bed.
Take out a piece of paper and create your prepositional reading timeline. Place your finished prepositional reading timeline in your passport envelope.
Create a full-sized drawing, sculpture, or painting representing an event or character from the 7 Summit Book. Please include a one-page explanation/description with the piece.
Take a picture of what you created if it is 3D. Take out a piece of paper and create your explanation/description of your artwork. Place your finished explanation/description and photo or drawing in your passport envelope.
7 Summits Book Collage
Create a collage of events, pictures and artifacts from a 7 Summits book. This scrapbook must include multiple people, dates, events and issues from the book.
Place your finished collage in your passport envelope.
Create a word search utilizing new word you discovered while reading your 7 Summits book. Look up the definitions of the words as you use them.
Take a piece of paper and create your vocabulary search using the picture to assist you. Place your finished vocabulary search in your passport envelope.
A-Z Free Verse Poetry
Write the alphabet on a sheet of paper. To think more deeply about your text, write a word associated with the text that represents each letter of the alphabet.
Take a piece of paper and create you’re A-Z Free Verse Poetry. Place your finished A-Z Free Verse Poetry in your passport envelope.
