Tibetan Prayer Flags
All over Tibet and even on the approach to Mt. Everest, there are prayer flags. Traditionally, prayer flags are used to promote peace, compassion, strength, and wisdom. The flags do not carry prayers to gods, which is what some people think. Tibetans believe the prayers and mantras will be blown by the wind to spread the good will and compassion all around.

Now it’s time for you to make your very own flag.
Take out a blank sheet of paper, markers or crayons, string, and a hole puncher. Follow the link below to create your very own flag. What positive thought would you like to send out on the wind? Do you want peace, clean water, no more hunger? Think about what message you want to send. Once you finish, you will be able to hang your flag in the wind so that it can carry your message near and far. This is a great way for you to focus on positive thoughts and intentions.
A mandala is a circular piece of art. The word “mandala” itself means “circle” in Sanskrit. Circles have a very important meaning in Hindu and Buddhist religious traditions. Mandalas came about in Indian and Himalayan religious traditions as artistic ways of representing the spiritual universe. The ancient Hindu scriptures think of time as circular, having a creation period, a period of flourishing existence, and a destruction that leads to another inevitable creation. Modern mandalas we can see in coloring books or contemporary artwork are used as means to reduce stress, connect deeply with oneself and appreciate forms of beauty in the world.
Follow the link below for detailed instructions on how to create your own mandala. All you need is a paper, a pencil, a ruler or a straight edge and something circular to trace around, like a bowl.
If you need ideas for the designs in your mandala, put “mandala designs” in your search engine and then look at the images.
