EMERGE students – many of whom are the first in their families to go to college -- have typically shown leadership potential both in their classrooms and in their extracurricular commitments and activities.

Interested students are encouraged to attend the campus information sessions. In addition, students can access and complete the online application, available at

Applications for the new cohort will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 18.

Following the application and interview process, those selected will participate in the program throughout their junior and senior years in Spring ISD, gaining access to specialized college counseling, free SAT classes, summer college trips, and a network of support to help them achieve their educational goals.

The program kicked off in spring 2018, when Spring ISD became the third area district to partner with the nonprofit EMERGE Fellowship, which also works with students in both the Houston and Spring Branch independent school districts, preparing them to attend and graduate from selective colleges and universities in Texas and across the country.
