Spring ISD and Honda of Spring Announce 3rd Annual Smart Kid Cool Car Partnership

HOUSTON – Nov. 13, 2018 – Spring ISD is inviting all high school seniors to participate in Smart Kid Cool Car, a vehicle giveaway program sponsored by Honda of Spring. Deserving seniors can qualify to win a brand-new 2019 Honda HR-V if they meet specific requirements related to academics, attendance and community service.

The Smart Kid Cool Car program recognizes students who are motivated academically and are active in service to the community. Requirements include maintaining a cumulative 2.5 GPA, passing all state-required End of Course exams, maintaining a 95 percent attendance rate during the year, completing 25 hours of community service in the Spring community and having no out-of-school discipline infractions.

“We are excited for the 2019 school year with Spring ISD and the opportunity to strengthen our partnership as well as motivate students to graduate and enroll in college,” said Honda of Spring General Manager Jason Jackson.

Trinity Jagarnauth, a 2018 Dekaney High School graduate, was the grand prize winner last year for the annual giveaway.

“When I heard my name being called out, to be honest, I didn’t think I was hearing right. I never thought in a million years that I would win the car,” he said.  “This car helps my family a lot since I am going off to college. Transportation is not an issue for me anymore. This program is a great way to get seniors excited about college and winning a new car.”

Superintendent Dr. Rodney Watson said he’s looking forward to continuing the relationship with Honda of Spring.

“Partnerships like this are what Spring ISD is all about; we are only as good as our community and our community is only as good as Spring,” he said. “I am grateful that Honda of Spring is encouraging our senior scholars to do well in school by providing this generous car donation.”

Seniors from five participating high schools are eligible: Carl Wunsche Sr. High School, Dekaney High School, Spring Early College Academy, Spring High School and Westfield High School. An award celebration and drawing is being planned for May 2019, giving seniors enough time to meet the program's requirements.
