Lt. (Dr.) David Borchardt has nearly 25 years of experience in military and civilian policing including service as a patrol sergeant for a sheriff’s office and investigator for a district attorney’s office. He began his career as a U.S. Air Force Security Forces (military police) Officer with service in Afghanistan, Germany, and South Korea.

Lt. Borchardt has a Doctor of Philosophy in criminal justice from Nova Southeastern University where he conducted research on the relationship between police leadership and police interactions with the public.

He has extensive experience in leadership, management, data-informed policing, policy and procedure, criminal law, and a multitude of police functions including K-9 and criminal investigations. He has familiarity with judiciary and prosecutorial functions and has served as an adjunct instructor of criminal justice at Lone Star College-Montgomery teaching academic credit courses.

Lt. Borchardt has served as an instructor for TASER, expandable baton, oleoresin capsicum, and a variety of physical control technique systems.

In 2006 Lt. Borchardt was awarded the Bronze Honor Cross of the Federal Republic of Germany for his leadership and cooperation efforts between the U.S. Air Force and the German Navy.
