Principal's Newsletter

Hello SECA Parents and Students,

Thank you Parents for your efforts and support around helping our students complete and submit their PBL assignments. This has truly been a Team effort and I appreciate YOU ALL for becoming the HomeSchool support for our students. Thank you for joining our weekly parent sessions and for reaching out when you have questions or need additional information.

Our 9th and 10th grade students have completed PBL1 at at rate of 99%. We are a couple of submissions short of being at 100% but we will not stop until we get there!

Our PBL 2 has kicked off nicely and we now add our 11th grade students into mix with their math and science PBL being introduced.

Senior students continue to engage in their college courses and their AVID assignments. We have 95 seniors and are on the verge of having 100% of our seniors completing college coursework and 82 of them completing an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree. That is AMAZING and I cannot wait to see what our 11th, 10th, and 9th grade students are able to achieve by the time they graduate.

We will continue to work with them all to ensure we are preparing them for college coursework and beyond. In this time of remote learning we are working to find the balance between supporting and preparing for the year to come.

We hope to have some additional information about summer TSI testing opportunities and possible summer virtual support sessions for our students in various areas including: TSI (reading and math), resume writing and interviewing for our incoming seniors (we know that colleges are adjusting their admission requirements and we want our students to be prepared), core course support areas and AVID skill building. We will share more information as we get it.

Finally I want to say A Great Big Happy Mother's Day to ALL of our SECA Mother's! I hope that your weekend is filled with love, appreciation and celebration.

Sincerely,

KGuidry
