Embark on an exciting summer adventure with "Journey into Reading: Create New Worlds Through Books"! This initiative, in collaboration with the Barbara Bush Library, aims to foster a love for reading and support academic growth. View all of the Summer Reading events at the Barbara Bush Library.

You'll accumulate points for every book read and event attended, with opportunities to compete for exclusive Spring ISD prizes. Choose from a variety of reading materials, including traditional books, eBooks, audiobooks, graphic novels, and magazines. Participate in fun, interactive events to earn extra points and enhance your reading experience.

Elementary and Middle School students will compete separately

• Every book read (5 points)

• Every event attended (10 points)

• Earn prizes from the Barbara Bush Library just for registering

Campus Level:

• Each school will recognize three winners:

  • One PK-2 winner

  • One 3-5 winner

  • One 6-8 winner

• In the event of ties, Library Media Specialists will select the campus finalists.

District Level:

• Campus winners will compete district-wide to determine:

  • One PK-2 district champion

  • One 3-5 district champion

  • One 6-8 district champion

• District-wide winners will be determined based on the highest point totals.

This tiered approach ensures fair competition across all grade levels and recognizes top readers at both the campus and district levels.

This program is designed to cater to all reading preferences and proficiency levels, including visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners. By participating, you'll not only have fun but also maintain your reading skills, setting yourself up for success in the upcoming school year. The "Journey into Reading" program begins next week, so don't miss out on this fantastic opportunity to explore new worlds through books!

1. Kick off your journey by registering at Barbara Bush Library through our website.

2. Download and print your digital reading passport.

3. Read books and attend events at Barbara Bush Library until August 3rd to earn stamps on your passport.

4. The adventure continues! From August 4th to August 25th, keep the reading magic alive and earn more stamps just for reading books from the Barbara Bush Library.

5. Keep track of your points and compete for prizes

6. On August 26th, present your passport with stamps to your school's Library Media Specialist and celebrate your reading achievements!
