Polling Location Volunteer Opportunities

Dear Spring ISD Staff:

As you know, we have worked hard over the last few months to ensure the Spring ISD community is aware of the Voter Approval Tax Rate Election (VATRE). Despite our efforts, there still may be voters who are unaware of the VATRE.

That’s precisely why we need your help! Volunteers are needed during the week of the early voting period (Oct. 21- Nov 1) and Election Day (Nov. 5) at voting locations throughout the community to assist with spreading the word and reminding voters of the Spring ISD VATRE.

Working at the polls, of course, is not required work. This is a volunteer opportunity. If you would like to join these efforts, here are some important things to consider:

If you are scheduled to work on Tuesday, Nov. 5, you will need to take time off to volunteer. That could be a few hours, half a day, or the entire day – depending on how many hours you want to volunteer. Please remember to request the time off from your supervisor in advance.

Volunteers will distribute materials printed by the district, so it is important that we refrain from telling people how to vote. Our job is simply to make voters aware of the item; we cannot ask them to vote for the item.

Either pick up a supply of printed information cards at the Community Engagement Center the day prior to your shift or contact Daja Minor at 281-891-6195 or dminor@springisd.org to coordinate a drop-off at your polling location.

Shifts are available in one-hour time slots, with up to 4 people per time slot for each location and day.

Volunteers should stand at least 100 feet away from the main entrance of the polling location.

Volunteers should remind voters that the Spring ISD VATRE item is at the bottom of the ballot.

Comfortable clothing is permitted; however, volunteers should not wear district- or school-branded attire.

If you are interested in volunteering, please click the appropriate button below to submit a form. Please note there is no limit to the number of shifts you sign up for; however, the form only allows you to complete one shift at a time. You will need to complete the form each time.

Thanks for all that you do on behalf of our schools and our students.

Early Voting - Oct. 21 through Nov. 1
