Transfer students are defined as students attending a school for which they are not zoned. The following types of transfers are available:

  • Intra-district

  • Inter-district

  • Special Program

Detailed information on each transfer type and respective eligibility requirements is provided below.

Please Note:

  • Transfers will not be approved that adversely affect the sending or receiving school.

  • Transfers are processed on a first-come first-serve basis.

  • Students attending the district’s schools of choice (Roberson Middle School, Spring Leadership Academy, Carl Wunsche Sr. High School, P-TECH at Dekaney High School, and Spring Early College Academy) are NOT considered transfer students since these schools do not have attendance boundaries. Students accepted into these programs receive transportation. Each of these schools has a student application process that is available on the school website.

  • Transportation is NOT provided to transfer students.

  • Students who have maintained all of the transfer requirements for the 2023-2024 school year may be eligible for an automatic renewal of their transfer without additional requirements.

  • Students who have not maintained the requirements for a student transfer will be assessed and provided an opportunity for improvement. However, if the campus principal determines that the student has not met the transfer requirements, the student will be returned to their regularly zoned campus. Students in 5th and 8th grades will be need to submit a new transfer application request for the 2024-2025 school year if the parents are requesting they attend a non-zoned middle or high school.

  • Eligibility for a school transfer is a privilege and may be revoked due to:

    • Excessive absences

    • Excessive tardies

    • Repeated failure to pick up the student from school on time

    • Violations of the Student Code of Conduct

    • Student is no longer receiving child care from the provider that qualified them for a school transfer

  • UIL transfers will not be approved for athletic purposes. All UIL rules apply. Athletes transferring will be ineligible to participate in all varsity athletic sports at the school to which they transfer for all varsity athletics for at least one calendar year at the school they now attend. All transfers involving athletes and students in UIL programs will be reviewed and approved by the Director of Athletics, the Director of Performing and Visual Arts, and the Chief of Innovation and Student Success.
